First Line Therapy
First Line Therapy (FLT) is an easy-to-use, practical system for healthcare practitioners to implement therapeutic lifestyle change programs in busy practices. FLT is effective because it addresses the underlying causes of common chronic disorders, not just the symptoms. The core focus of FLT—which includes a low-glycemic-index dietary plan, nutritional supplements, exercise, and stress reduction techniques—is helping patients to maintain or enhance lean body mass while they lose unhealthy fat. FLT integrates body composition testing (measuring body fat and lean mass) as well as indicators of cellular health as a part of patient assessment—whereas many programs only measure weight or body mass index (BMI). These other programs often incorporate diets that may result in an excessive loss of muscle mass that is associated with accelerated aging and declining health. FLT also provides guidelines for science-based supplementation as therapeutic options for individual patients for an easily customized approach to condition management and disease risk reduction.
A proven program that incorporates personal lifestyle medicine involving changes such as healthy nutrition, nutritional protocols, exercise, and stress management.
This program has been used in at least two double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled human trials. One on metabolic syndrome (pre-diabetes) and the other on diabetes. Both trials showed efficacy. Patients lost weight, improved their glucose and insulin levels, improved their cholesterol and best of all, this was all sustainable, months after the trials ended.
Drs. Born and Jones-Born are both certified FLT practitioners.
hCG Diet
The hCG Diet was initially created by Dr. A.T.W. Simeons and outlined in his original manuscript, “Pounds and Inches: A Guide to Weight Loss.” This plan was intended for seriously obese individuals already at high risk for serious health issues because of their weight.
We custom-tailor this diet specifically for you. We use Koshland Pharmacy for the sub-cutaneous hCG injections that can easily be administered at home. KP only uses the most sterile techniques in making their medicines.
26-day: For those wishing to lose 15 pounds or less
40-day: for those wishing to lose more than 15 pounds
Offered by Dr. Jones-Born and Dr. Tonnu
Allergy Elimination Diet
The purpose of the elimination diet is to identify hidden food allergens that may be causing some or all of your symptoms. During the elimination period, all common food allergens are completely eliminated from your diet for 2 to 3 weeks (see guidelines below). After your symptoms improve, foods are added back, one at a time, to determine which foods are causing your symptoms.
Increasing evidence has shown that inflammatory foods to a person’s individual make-up can lead to weight gain and an inability to lose weight despite caloric restriction and adequate exercise.
By removing these inflammatory foods, many patients are able to drop those last 5-20 stubborn pounds.
IgG Food Sensitivity and Intolerance testing
IgG Food Antibody Assessment is a food sensitivity test which helps identify those with true IgE-mediated allergies as well as IgG-mediated food sensitivities. This immunological food sensitivity test measures IgG antibody levels to 87 foods, and total IgE.
Additional sensitivity tests are also available for regional inhalants, molds, vegetables, and spices. This antibody food sensitivity test is ideal for patients who may suffer from delayed reactions/sensitivities to specific foods. It may also provide insight on intolerances, or non-immune responses, to certain foods.
Genovive Genetic Testing
GenoVive’s weight management solutions are based on the latest advances in the sciences of nutrigenomics and nutrigenetics.
Nutrigenomics is a branch of nutritional genomics and is the study of the effects of foods and food constituents on gene expression. This means that nutrigenomics is research focusing on identifying and understanding molecular-level interaction between nutrients and other dietary bioactives with the genome.
Nutrigenetics explains how an individual’s genetic makeup affects the body’s response to diet and exercise as well as ones susceptibility to certain illnesses.
Our genetic code determines all of our body’s characteristics, including the way our metabolism works. GenoVive decodes the valuable information provided by the DNA to reveal how we respond to food and exercise. GenoVive uses DNA analysis to determine the appropriate macronutrient balance to compliment the unique characteristics of our metabolism. GenoVive also determines the intensity and duration of exercise needed each week to maintain a healthy weight and overall fitness.
