FAQ

Do you accept insurance?

Currently, our office does not accept insurance. At the end of your visit we will provide you with a superbill that can be used to file for reimbursement with your insurance company. Most insurance plans will cover a portion of the cost of your visit and apply it as an “out-of-network” provider.

Do you offer discounts?

Unfortunately, many insurance plans do not cover naturopathic care.  We do operate on a sliding scale for those that need it.

What to expect in the first 2 visits

– Your first appointment will last approximately 60-90 minutes. We will discuss your health concerns, perform any pertinent physical exams, determine if any lab/imaging work needs to be completed or requested and discuss options. Depending on your case, some treatments may be given (such as a homeopathic remedy).

– Your second visit will be approximately 45-60 minutes (3-4 weeks later). We will review all labs and/or imaging that was performed. We will also present you with a full treatment plan that was created unique to you.

What to expect in the follow-up visits

All follow up appointments will range from 15-45 minutes, depending on complexity. These are necessary to ensure your health is improving and make adjustments to your plan.

What is “Welcome to Wellness”?

BIMS offers a free 15-minute consultation to discuss how naturopathic medicine can address your health concerns. No medical advice or treatment will be given during the consultation.

Is there a cancellation policy?

Due to our extended visit times with our patients, we ask that you give at least 24 hour’s notice, otherwise a $75 fee will be charged.  We understand that there are extenuating circumstances, so we do take it on a case-by-case basis.

Are the docs on-time?

As a courtesy to all our patients we like to be considerate of their time. Appointment length will not be extended due to late arrival. If more than 15 minutes late, our cancellation policy will go into effect. Please fill out forms prior to your first appointment, these are available for download or print on our website. We are happy to mail, fax, or email patient forms to you as well. This policy helps maximize your appointment time.

What is the financial policy?

As a patient of BIMS, you are responsible for the total charges incurred from each visit to your practitioner. Charges are to be paid at the time of each visit. Any laboratory fees or natural pharmacy items that may be recommended are not included in the appointment fee. If you have  insurance, most of the time your labs will likely be covered by your carrier. We recognize and appreciate that health care can involve major financial commitment. We aim to provide you with effective and affordable health care. Payments can be made by check, Venmo, or Zelle.  International patients can use PayPal.

What is the extent of training of naturopathic doctors?

Detailed information can be found via the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP) website.

Is there a difference between a Homeopath and an ND?

Yes, but BIMS doctors may use homeopathy as part of your treatment plan. Both Dr. Born and Dr. Jones-Born have advanced training in constitutional homeopathy, but they are not homeopaths.
